Travel Tips for North India
Best Time to Visit
October to March is the most comfortable window across Agra, Delhi, Jaipur and Udaipur, with cool mornings and warm, dry afternoons. April to June turns genuinely hot, especially in Agra and Jaipur; July to September brings the monsoon, with humidity and occasional heavy rain.
What to Wear
Comfortable, closed shoes for uneven stone paths; breathable layers for daytime heat; a warm layer for winter mornings, which can drop close to freezing before sunrise in December and January. Mosques and temples on our itineraries require shoulders and knees covered.
Money & Tipping
The Indian Rupee (INR) is the local currency; card payment is widely accepted in hotels and larger shops, but cash is still useful for markets and small vendors. Tipping guides and drivers is customary but not obligatory — we're happy to advise on a fair amount if you're unsure.
Getting Around
Private car with driver is the most comfortable way to move between cities on a Golden Triangle-style itinerary; express trains (like the Gatimaan or Vande Bharat) are the fastest option specifically between Delhi and Agra.
Health & Safety
Stick to bottled or filtered water, and let your guide select street food vendors rather than eating at random stalls. Basic travel insurance covering medical care is strongly recommended, as it is for any international trip.
