Overview
Jaipur, the Pink City, pairs hilltop forts with a walled old town still laid out on its original 18th-century grid. Two days lets you cover the forts unhurried and still wander Johari Bazaar for gems, textiles and blue pottery.
Highlights
- Amber Fort, with a jeep or elephant-ride option up the hill
- City Palace, still partly home to Jaipur's royal family
- Hawa Mahal, the honeycombed Palace of Winds

Frequently Asked Questions
Elephant ride or jeep up to Amber Fort?
We default to offering the jeep option, given ongoing animal-welfare concerns around the elephant rides — happy to explain both if you'd still like to choose.
Can Jaipur be done in a single day from Agra or Delhi?
A full day covers the highlights but feels rushed; two days is far more comfortable if your schedule allows it.
Is Jaipur walkable, or do we need a car between sites?
The forts are outside the city and need a car; the old city sites (City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar) sit close enough to walk between.
